Relational Intelligence: Empathy and Trust in Intercultural Practice
(Time and location TBC)
SIETAR UK is delighted to announce our autumn one-day conference in London on Saturday, 31 October.
Working interculturally often involves engaging with cultural differences, values and communication styles. But there are many other factors that shape intercultural encounters: how people build trust, manage uncertainty, transcend differences and sustain relationships in complex social settings. Intercultural work is therefore deeply connected to the idea of relational intelligence.
We define relational intelligence as the ability to notice, understand and work skilfully with the human dynamics that shape intercultural encounters. It includes trust-building, empathy, compassion, emotional awareness, conflict navigation, ethical listening, mutual recognition and the capacity to remain open in moments of unfamiliarity, ambiguity or discomfort.
The conference will be designed to create space for shared dialogue, connection and collective learning across the day.
