It took me nearly 50 studying and working years in 6 countries, in 4 languages, in about 30 companies and an MBA from Northern Illinois University in 1973 to come to realise that my clients would like to hear much more about successful tips and strategies in cross-cultural life and business from various sources. But more and more, they seem to increasingly enjoy --- and keep feeding back that they find it much more practical and vital in the real world---a new frame of mind and doing that has to do with uncovering and coping with adversity, with risk and with not being blind to, or at least not missing, attractive opportunities abroad. All this had been surfacing from the time that the global business environment and fast tele-communications started having "the upper hand" in business, in the economy in general and in the wider socio-demographic scene.. Leveraged by those welcome developments, business saw no big obstacles in venturing far and wide, quite frequently and with little or any cross-cultural preparataion or understanding. The result of all this, was a mentoring and coaching model that handles the cross-cultural not just as a curiosity and an opportunity for discovery and gain but crucially as potentially harbouring risk, misunderstandings and outright loss. It is all this that forms the basis of my practice today. It takes my clients through loops, it introduces them to common dilemmas and decisions having first taken them through a situation analysis. In the process, it teaches while allowing the client to create their own content and pathway.
